Mr. William Harvey Butler, of Calvert City, Kentucky died on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at his home in Calvert City, Kentucky. Born on December 6, 1924 in Gilbertsville, KY, he was a retired Ironworker for the Local 782 in Paducah. He was also a member of the Calvert City Masonic Lodge #543 for 60 years.
Mr. Butler honorably served his country in the US Military for 20 years. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and spent his last 5 years serving in the Tennessee National Guard.
Surviving are one son, Donald Butler of Calvert City, KY, daughter, Dava Lynn Butler of Calvert City, KY, brother, Ward R. Butler of Grand Rivers, KY, sister, Doris Ellington of Calvert City, KY.
He was predeceased by his wife: Essie Barrett Butler; parents: William Hasting Butler and Ivalena (Dunn) Butler; one son John F. Butler, one brother, Samuel Butler and sisters, Tessie Gordon and Hazel Barrett.
A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025 with the Rev. Charles Westfall officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in Provine Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the VFW Post 5739, Calvert City, KY or the American Legion Post 144, Gilbertsville, KY.
