Mrs. Velma J. Baker, age 85, of Hardin, KY, passed away, Friday, September 28, 2012, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. She was a homemaker and a member of the Olive Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Hallie Johnson and the late Lola (Jones) Johnson.
She is survived by one son, Ronnie Baker of Hardin, Ky :one daughter, Sandra Moore, husband Walter of Hardin, Ky. ;one brother, Howard Johnson of Benton, KY.; two sisters, Thema Burkeen of Hardin, KY. and Mary Redden of Murray, KY.; daughter-in-law, Shelia Baker of Hardin, KY. seven grandchildren; Chad Baker, wife Beth of Paducah, KY, Justin Baker of Murray, KY., Zachary Baker, wife Jaclyn of Clarksville, TN., Chris Moore, wife Dedria of Benton, KY., Jennie Cope, husband Chris of Benton, KY., Benji Moore, wife Erin of Hardin, KY and Josh Moore, wife Stacy of Benton, KY.; eleven great-grandchildren: Peyton Baker, Camille Baker, Casey Moore, Billie Moore, Ty Moore, Clint Cope, Kaylee Cope, Riley Moore, McKinley Moore, Ava Moore and Claire Moore.
One sister-in-law, Lucille Jackson of Paducah, Ky., also survives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Baker; one son, Danny Baker; one brother, James Johnson; one sister, Marjorie Hopkins and one great grandchild, Caleb Baker.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, September 30, 2012. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm Monday, October the 1, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Chapel. Rev. Curtis Harrell and Rev. Chris Moore will be officiating. Interment will be at Unity Cemetery, Hardin, KY.
