Roy Lee Smith, age 83, of Benton, KY, died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Lakeway Nursing & Rehab Center in Benton, KY. Mr. Smith was a retired laborer from a battery plant and was of the Baptist Faith.
He was the son of the late James Bunk Smith and the late Aggie (Edwards) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jean (Noles) Smith.
He is survived by his companion Lillian P. Reid of Benton, KY; one son: James Glenn Smith of Benton, KY; two sisters; Rebecca Woodruff of Cadiz, KY and Freida Rowley and husband Bill of Benton, KY; two grandchildren; Felisia Brewer and husband Will of Benton, KY, and Derek Smith of Benton, KY; and three great grandchildren; Bailey and Gracie Brewer of Benton, KY and Derek Smith ll of Benton, KY.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, January 23, 2012. Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 24, 2012, with Rev. Joe Daryl Thorn officiating. Interment will be at Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.
