Mrs. Myrtle Odell Yates, age 97, of Mayfield, KY, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at her home. Born April 15, 1914 in Marshall Co., KY., she was a seamstress and retired from Meritt Clothing in Mayfield and was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Oah Franklin "O.F." Roach and the late Ruby Elizabeth (Creason) Roach.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy (Stellwagen) Yates of Mayfield, KY., two granddaughters; Kathleen Ann (Yates) McElwayne of Mayfield, KY., and Sarah Louise Yates of Georgetown, KY., four great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Marie McElwayne, Samuel James McElwayne, Matthew Dale McElwayne all of Mayfield, KY., and Kelsey Cierra Hern of Georgetown, KY.

One great-great grandchild; Wiley Issac Norton of Mayfield also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence Edward Yates who passed away in 1989 and her son; Franklin Eugene Yates, one daughter; Delores Ann Yates and one sister; Lucille Roach.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY.

Funeral service will be held at McKendree Cemetery on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Richard Dowdy officiating.

Interment will follow in the McKendree Cemetery, Mayfield, KY.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
