Mr. William Olen Houser, age 93, of Benton, KY, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 9:27 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. Born March 26, 1918 in Marshall Co., Kentucky, he was a member of the Church Grove United Methodist Church in Benton, KY., and attended the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Benton, KY. He was a retired chemical operator from Pittsburg Metallurgical Company in Calvert City, KY., and was still active as a cattle farmer.
He was the son of the late Harley Houser and the late Henrietta "Etta" (Portis) Houser.
He is survived by one daughter; Joquita Brewer of Benton, KY., and one son; Rickey Houser of Benton, KY. five grandchildren; Rachel Houser, Austin Houser, Hallie Houser, Jessica Watkins and William Glen "Will" Brewer all of Benton, KY. , five great-grandchildren; Brent Watkins, Bailey Brewer, Gracie Brewer all of Benton, KY., Elijah Brewer and Zion Brewer, both of Nashville, TN.
Two sisters; Clara Nell Henson of Benton, KY., and Lou Jean Parrish of Alma, AR also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Emma Nell (Canup) Houser, one grandson; Scotty Joe Brewer, three brothers; Clifford Houser, Alfred Houser and Bobby Houser, one sister; Vida Phelps.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.
Rev. Joe Daryl Thorn will officiate.
Interment is to follow in the Edwards Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 16 Wadesboro Rd. Benton, KY 42025.
